My Dad was an amateur artist, When he passed away in 1976 my two older sisters, younger brother and I were able to choose our favorite paintings of his. I choose this painting of Crater Lake, and two others. Whenever I look at it, I am reminded of my father and how much he loved Crater Lake.

My book recommendation for today is So Sad to Fall in Battle

So Sad to Fall in Battle: An Account of War Based on General Tadamichi Kuribayashi’s Letters from Iwo Jima | IndieBound.org. This book made the Japanese on the island real men with families, dreams and hopes just like the Americans who were fighting them. It is the book the movie Letters from Iwo Jima was based on.

My first choice for the book challenge is A Treasury of Great Poems by Louis Untermeyer (editor). It is a book that I have had for over 20 years now and still will pick up occasionally and find a new poem that I have not read or read an old one in a new way.
