As a peace time Veteran (U.S. Army 1981-1985) I have always found Veterans Day awkward especially when someone at a store or restaurant ask if you’re a veteran, usually at the time they are looking at my husband. A lot of the times I say nothing, when I do say something I feel like I should apologize for not serving during war time. I know logically this makes no sense but sometimes I am not very logical
